Presbyters of Pittsburgh Presbytery (PCA), women leaders in their churches, and candidates for gospel ministry are invited to attend this workshop led by Dr. Mark Garcia, the President of Greystone Theological Institute and the Lydia Center.
This workshop aims to provide a practical, elementary level course, on how to handle Domestic Abuse within the church, from a reformed and biblically informed philosophy and approach to pastoral care. The primary intended audience will be Sessions of Pittsburgh Presbytery, as well as other church leaders and aspiring leaders. The objective of this workshop is to help equip said persons on how to pastorally approach situations that include allegation, suspicion, and/or actual domestic abuse.
Questions to be answered will include: What is the definition of abuse? What are the different kinds of abuse? What are the key indicators of each? What steps should be taken from initial contact with the victim, initial engagement with the abuser, and beyond? What are the pitfalls to avoid and goals to pursue?
Please consider sending at least one TE and one RE from your Session to this workshop.
Late Registration is permitted. Please register ASAP so we can plan accordingly for meeting space and food. Thank you!
