Big Changes Afoot!

Big changes are afoot!

Pastor Bob is now retired and Pastor Jon is now the pastor of Covenant Community Church. Both are off our website and church voicemail. Both of their offices are empty. Even the parking lot seemed a little lonely this morning!

After spending the morning answering weekend emails and voicemails in relative solitude, I left the church to grab some lunch and run an errand or two. As I drove around Murrysville, I thought about how blessed we were to enjoy the ministries of these two men. I could thank the Lord for specific and powerful ways in which he used them to encourage and edify the saints at MCC – during times of rejoicing and times of sorrow. It was a fun but admittedly bittersweet time of prayer.

Soon after, back at the church, I noticed a new car in the parking lot and a new face in the sanctuary: Patrick, our new Interim Director of Youth Ministries. He was talking with one of our elders. After a brief greeting, I walked back to my office, chuckling a bit – overjoyed by the Lord’s faithfulness.

God is so faithful to us, is he not? He called one of our shepherds to care for another flock, but provided a pastor-in-training to take his place. He graciously rewarded one of our shepherds with a time of rest, but already encourages our Session as they seek his successor (more on that soon).

Although there are many questions as we move forward into this next season of ministry, I already see so many evidences of God’s love and care for us. They are encouraging, especially in times of big change.
